Once a month (first Wednesdays) we rock Los Angeles to its poetry, live music, and performance art core by bringing in the world’s most sought after spoken word artists and showcasing the hottest, locally based, signed and unsigned musical acts to the delite of LA’s most beautiful, non-pretentious, urban professional audience. The first completed artwork by Cleophus, from the soon to be completed set; (Biggie & Tupac), Both are part of the “Hip-Hop Icons & Heroes Series”, of artworks now in progress. The second of the set titled; The Resurrection: Tupac , is scheduled to be completed in winter 2009. Both artworks will be available for exhibition and auction only.

“Mood Indigo” by Smith and Semien Sneak Peak

Come experience 1956 Harlem with this bluesy musical inspired by the legendary writer Langston Hughes!

Bartender and aspiring writer “Langston” joined by Susanna Jones, Ruby Brown, Hattie and Hammond, Alberta K. Johnson and other characters lifted from page to stage for a wild, red hot, bluesy night of flirting, fussin’ and fun!

The comic, sometimes acerbic and soulful wit of Hughes is poetically and skillfully woven into conversations and situations from which show-stopping blues tunes and dances erupt!

Written by Smith & Semien and performed by Urban Arts Theater West the blues never felt so good! Stay tuned for upcoming performance dates.

" SF Art in Recovery" Performance, Art Auction, and Concert Event

Jeph Willis Arts has also joined forces with the Homeless Artist’s Local Forum’s founder Kevin Johnson, and San Francisco Recovery Theatre’s Director, Geoffrey Grier. He has dedicated his unique, business-savvy talent & resources to the Los Angeles Recovery Theatre. The Theatre is predicated on the hope that, by providing a support group for performing and fine artists in recovery, one can help create an environment of stability. This, in turn, can be the spring board to reintegrating these individuals into mainstream society.
